Almost perfect weekend

This weekend our very dear friends Mica and Eli came to visit. We went to the mountains for the weekend. The weather and company was perfect. We couldn't have asked for a better weekend.

The hotel had a fire pit around which we roasted marshmallows. They were delicious. We reluctantly allowed Drew to have his own stick to roast marshmallows. We quickly had to take it from him. He kept turning to talk to us. When he would turn to look at us he would swing the stick in the direction he was looking. You can imagine a group of people "ducking" to keep from being hit by a sharp, hot object being wielded by a three year old.

The temperature dropped Friday night, so when we awakened on Saturday it was quite chilly which made the hot tub the most logical place to "hang out." We had a blast watching the kids play and "catching up." You really don't realize how much you miss people until you see them again. The kids and Eli had such a blast while Mica and I relaxed. It was perfect!!

We also took a hike up the mountain. It was beautiful. It is hard to express in words the beauty of the mountains. It is amazing!!
After our hike, Claire, Mica and I went to get a manicure and pedicure. We were not able to get an appointment at the place we had "scouted out." The lady sent us to the salon in Wal-mart. That should have been a huge RED FLAG as to what we were about to experience. It was awful! I left bleeding and we were all very unhappy with our results. You can imagine how disappointed we were.
Now let me say that that was the beginning of the end of a perfect weekend. I promise that the story I am about to tell is true. It will be difficult to believe...but it is the truth.
You should remember as I tell this story that you are hearing about the Seale family. You know the family that "if it can happen, it will happen." SO......
When Mica, Claire, and I returned to the hotel, Drew was lying next to Justin resting. That is an unusual behavior for Drew. He stood up when I came to him and told me he was about to "throw up." He threw up everywhere. We then realized that he had fallen from the bed. Anyway... you see where we are going. We had to take him to the hospital. We went to Vail hospital. After the initial testing, they said he needed to go to Denver Childrens' Hospital. They wanted to MED FLIGHT him to Denver, but a significant storm had arrived, so the helicopters were not flying. This meant that Drew had to be transported via ambulance to Denver which was two hours away. Drew and Justin left in the ambulance and I returned to the hospital to get Mica and the kids. We began our journey from the mountain. We quickly got into the first winter storm. It was AWFUL!!! Our two hour trip became four hours. What a stressful drive...snow, worry, etc.
Drew spent all day Sunday in the hospital. He has a fractured skull and the doctors were contemplating surgery to relieve the pressure on his brain. He was very nauseated, uncomfortable, and lethargic. It was not the Drew that we know. Anyway, just as children do, about 4PM on Sunday he began to be more responsive. Within an hour he was back to being Drew. I have never been so excited to see my over-active, spunky Drew. He was back!!!
We were discharged from the hospital with instructions to watch for signs that the swelling or bleeding was getting worse. These signs would be nausea or seizures. (YES, I said seizures...that is reassuring huh?). What a blessing that he is doing this much better. It is an answer to prayers!!
Now, you might think the story ends here; however, true to "Seale" form we have to add another "twist." Last night Justin went upstairs to bring Drew to bed with us. Being the responsible parents, we are going to have him sleep with us so we can monitor him closely. As Justin was reaching the bottom of the stairs, his feet slipped and he fell. He braced Drew to make sure he wasn't injured; however, he forgot to make sure HE wasn't injured. We think he broke a rib. Yes, a broken rib, and a fractured skull in one "Almost perfect weekend." ONLY AT THE SEALE HOUSE!! lol

What a weekend!!! My heart sank Sunday morning when I heard about Drew. I didn't know much, just that Drew was suppose to be in surgery at that very moment. My mind went back to the Saturday after Thanksgiving last year. We were at Harold and Wilma's, Kendyl tripped and hit the rock fireplace. We spent 5 hours in the ER waiting for stitches only to be told he may have to put her to sleep. Thankfully, he was able to stitch her up without having to put her to sleep. And, only by God's design, Lisa was there to stay with her while he was stitching. I don't think Allan could have held her by himself, and I could not do it. As soon as I heard Sunday I started praying. Our Bible study group is currently in a Beth Moore study on the book of Daniel. It is so awesome and last week's lesson fit perfectly. Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego were confronted by Nebuchanezzer about not bowing down to the golden image. They refused to do it, well you know the rest of the story. But at that moment they were faced with a trial. Beth taught us that in the face of a trial there are 3 different scenarios:
1. We can be delivered from the fire which builds our faith. That is what I prayed for first.
2. We can be delivered through the fire which refines our faith. That is what happened to our 3 boys in Daniel.
3. We can be delivered by the fire into His arms which perfects our faith.
Knowing now that surgery was not required, you were delivered from the fire. I pray that your faith has been built up.
Never underestimate the power of prayer and God's deliverance. I will keep praying!!!

Thanks for the encouragement! We truly felt the prayers from Arkansas! Once everyone began praying, the events began to unfold in a much more favorable way. Again a testament to how great our God is!!

I totally can't believe this...wait, yes I can. I am so glad my little buddy Drew is o.k. I knew you guys were freaked out by the whole thing. I hope Justin isn't in too much pain, broken ribs can really put you down.

On a lighter note..Your blog is great, your commentary on the events really make me LOL. I can't wait for the next posting. I will go ahead and say... I am slightly worried since you guys are preparing for the slopes. No Hotdoggin'.BE CAREFUL out there!!!

P.S Tell the kids, Chase thinks he is going to be a mummy for halloween. What are their plans?
